Notes | Voyager tomato (dutch: reizigerstomaat) is the black sheep of heirloom tomato varieties. at first glance, the fruits look strangely deformed, but this trait is actually an extremely handy adaptation selected for by the original indigenous farmers who grew it. These tomatoes were preferred for carrying on long journeys, and individual lumps on the fruit would be plucked off and consumed while the remaining could be left for later, Just like grapes! Has a great heirloom tomato flavor, and is an excellent addition to farms and gardens. |
